"Erica, I wanna give my partner a boudoir album as a gift!"
As much as I think it can be a terrific gift, I like to prepare my clients that boudoir is a gift you give yourself.
Why?
It puts really high expectations on the partner's reaction. Let me play devil's advocate: perhaps it is not well received because they don't react with a grandiose, "WOW, you are the hottest babe of all time!!!" You may feel let down. Maybe even a bit foolish.
Of course, a partner should be our number 1 cheerleader! But I have seen reality not live up to expectation.
It can be a shocking and overwhelming gift to receive if it is kept a surprise. And because it takes time to process, a recipient may not fully understand the intent or emotional investment.
So, set the expectation that the album is for YOU. I recommend picking out the images YOU love. Not necessarily the ones you think your partner will love. Let the album be something that you enjoy together.
The real gift?
Your partner gets to enjoy the results of having a more confident partner! One that prioritizes self care. Do it for YOU!
